Blacktails are a cross between a Rhode Island Red and Light Sussex. They are friendly, hardy, happy in run or free range and excellent layers. Sex can be determined on hatching. Males are yellow with small patches of black on their tails, wings and necks. Females have a golden brown tint to their feathers and also have small patches of black.
